The Service Technician will play a crucial role in the installation, repair, and maintenance of Propane and Oil generators, equipment and tanks. To ensure success as a Service Technician, one should have sound mechanical knowledge, be able work in confined spaces for an extended period, have exceptional communication skills, and a passion for customer service.Ultimately, a top-class Service Technician provides expert installation services and dedicated support to all customers.Duties/Responsibilities:Travels to customers' homes or place of businessInstalls generators, tanks and/or appliancesRepairs equipment such as generators, LP Furnaces, Water Heaters, LP appliances, etcSuggests areas where equipment should be set up – Site surveysTroubleshoots problems with existing equipmentTests old and new installation along with testing connectionsProvides customers with verbal and written operating instructions for new equipmentMaintains equipmentCleans up after the job is completeRecords and maintains stock levelsMaintains the work vehicle and general maintenance of the vehicleAssist with propane cylinder deliveries as neededAll other duties as assignedThe absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the position.Required Skills/Abilities:Proven work experience as a Service Technician highly preferredAdvanced knowledge of propane and refined fuel systemsAbility to obtain TX RRC service and installation certification within twelve (12) months of employment (if not already certified)Ability to solve problems and repair equipment on siteAbility to effectively and efficiently use navigation tools such as GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical mapsAbility to maintain accurate logs and recordsAbility to carry out a series of instructions with limited supervisionKnowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety RegulationsWillingness to learn , grow, and uphold a customer focused culture that continually strives to exceed expectationsSupport growth and retention effortsEducation, Certification, Licenses Required:High school diploma or equivalent requiredCDL A or B requiredService Technician License, highly preferred but not requiredMust have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving recordPhysical, Mental, and Behavioral Requirements:The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by the incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of 10 to 100 lbs. for approximately 90% of the work shift.Ability to regularly climb in and out of a commercial motor vehicle, multiple times per work shiftGood hand eye coordination, arm hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp and visual acuity to operate equipment is required, including at night.Frequent sitting, reaching with hands and armsMust be able to speak and hearPosition is subject to pre-hire DOT medical certification requirements and drug and/or alcohol testing, as well as a physical abilities test performed by a company providerMust pass pre-employment screening and background checkPosition may require working evening hours and weekends as neededWork is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes, airborne particles and gases is commonThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work that is expected to be performed.
