Job description

Signet, a Pavion company, is seeking a talented and motivated Service Technician to join our security business unit.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Perform repair/maintenance and moves, adds, and changes of Mission Critical systems throughout New England, including but not limited to: Security (CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion) & Wireless Communication.
  2. Perform low voltage cable installation, cable management, cable terminations, device installation, and other assigned service duties as required.
  3. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems and/or equipment as necessary.
  4. Complete Preventative Maintenance and system upgrades for systems as required.
  5. Complete test reports and deficiency repairs for systems as required.
  6. Produce accurate documentation of all service performed on calls or tasks as assigned.
  7. Provide daily updates and communication to the Service Team Lead for all assigned calls or tasks.
  8. Perform detailed site survey visits to identify client needs and/or upgrade opportunities.
  9. Make accurate decisions based on personal and professional judgment and verifiable criteria.
  10. Service small to medium-sized Mission Critical systems independently.
  11. Read and interpret service/project scopes, one lines, floor plans, submittals, specifications, test reports, and other project documentation.
  12. Communicate proficiently in oral and written forms, especially in occupied and sensitive environments.
  13. Follow cabling best practices—running, supporting, and terminating category-rated and multiconductor cabling.
  14. Be certified or experienced with Fire Stopping and capable of fire-stopping penetrations.
  15. Have a basic understanding of computers, Microsoft Windows applications, and networking concepts (wired and wireless).
  16. Configure and troubleshoot device connectivity (LAN and Internet).
  17. Use low voltage crimp tools, testing tools, and other construction-related tools proficiently.
  18. Demonstrate persistence, tactfulness, responsibility, and decision-making skills.
  19. Provide competent customer service using active listening and empathy.
  20. Work well independently and as part of a team.
Basic Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. 2-4 years' experience with service/installation and commissioning of low voltage/Data Communication systems, including Security and Wireless Communication.
  3. Experience with cabling, low voltage infrastructure, and terminations per applicable codes and standards.
  4. Experience with Mission Critical Systems (Security and Wireless Communication).
  5. Preferred experience with systems like Honeywell Pro Watch, Software House, AMAG, Genetec, DMP, Avigilon, Hirsch, Lenel S2, Bosch, Milestone, Ceragon, Cambium, Siklu.
  6. OSHA 10 certification.
  7. MA State D-License (required for MA Security work).
  8. Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and acceptable driving record.
  9. Ability to travel throughout New England and work off-hours as required.
  10. Ability to participate in on-call rotation.
  11. Physical ability to see, hear, distinguish colors, climb, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience with security control systems in sensitive environments.
  2. Industry or manufacturer certifications.
  3. RI TST Data Licensing.
  4. Firestop Certification (Hilti or 3M).
  5. Boom and scissor lift certification.

Salary starting at mid $30's/hour, commensurate with experience.
