Job summary

Commission CSI Energy Storage is seeking an on-site Service Engineer to perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role involves diagnostic work, hands-on support, and ensuring availability and capacity guarantees across Ontario sites.

You will oversee subcontractors, help develop SOPs, and travel frequently (over 50%) to regional project locations. Strong knowledge of MV power systems and renewables is essential.

Qualifications

• Educational background in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years in a service environment, preferably renewable energy.
• Experience with BESS or renewable power generation equipment.
• Knowledge of general/national codes and MV power systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• CMMS software experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel regionally, over 50% of the time

Provide onsite diagnostic, troubleshooting, and hands‑on support
Maintain equipment and meet availability and capacity guarantees
Fulfill obligations under Long Term Service Agreements for Battery Energy Storage System projects
Oversee and supervise subcontractors on site when required
Assist in developing standard operating procedures and processes
Perform proper Lockout/Tagout and switching procedures as needed
Analyze performance data to determine root causes and performance trends
Report to the Regional Service Manager

Requirements

• Educational background in Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a service environment, preferably in renewable energy
• Experience with BESS or renewable power generation equipment in a service environment
• Knowledge of general and national codes, medium voltage power systems, and photovoltaic or Energy Storage system applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and execute in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment
• Previous experience with a CMMS software program is preferred
• Ability to travel to regional locations as needed, over 50% of the time
• Willingness to travel and perform tasks at various project sites throughout Ontario
