Job summary

Hiab USA in Des Moines, IA, is seeking a skilled Technician to perform preventive maintenance, safety checks, upgrades and refurbishments on forklifts, knuckle boom cranes, loaders and related equipment at Hiab locations. The role requires a High School/GED, 3+ years of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical operations, a DOT Medical Card, a valid driver’s license, and owning your own tools.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain a 1-year DOT Medical Card is required.
• Valid Driver’s License is required.
• No more than one moving violation in the last year, or two in two years.
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical operations.
• Own diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and tools.
• Follow Hiab USA procedures and workplace instructions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, perform service, troubleshoot on forklifts, knuckle boom cranes, loaders, liftgates and related equipment.
• Follow safety rules, working practices and environmental requirements.
• Stay up to date with technical developments and complete training as instructed.
• Respond to customer queries to maximize satisfaction and follow guidelines.
• Maintain records, submit daily reports as directed.
• Recognize sales opportunities and communicate to management.
• Coach junior colleagues and trainees as needed.
• Demonstrate a positive image of the Hiab brand and adhere to the Quality System.

Your mission

To perform service, (preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment) on equipment, at assigned Hiab locations in line with Manager’s instructions. Responsible for contributing to productive customer relationships as well as following Best Practice in all administrative and technical activities.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, perform service, troubleshoot (preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment) on the following equipment: Forklifts, Knuckle Boom Cranes, Loaders, Liftgates, Hooklifts, Skiploaders & Hoists in line with Manager’s instructions
• Follow applicable safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements
• Staying up to date with technical developments as shown in internal service bulletins and completing technical courses when instructed by District Service Manager
• Respond to customer’s queries and concerns to maximize customer satisfaction & follow Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines
• Keep adequate records, maintain documentation & submit daily reports in the format specified by the District Service Manager
• Recognize sales opportunities and communicate to District Service Manager
• Coach/tutor junior colleagues and trainees as necessary
• Conduct self at all times in a way that promotes a positive image of the Hiab brand and follow rules of the Quality System

What we are looking for
