Job summary

HIAB USA in Middleton, MA seeks a skilled Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a range of lifting equipment. You will operate at Hiab locations, following Manager instructions to ensure reliability and safety.

Ideal candidates hold a High School diploma, a valid driver’s license, and 3+ years in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. Tools are personal; the role offers career growth, benefits, and a strong team environment.

Qualifications

• DOT Medical Card required or obtainable prior to start.
• Valid Driver's License is mandatory.
• Single moving violation in last year, or two in two years, will be reviewed.
• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 3 years in mechanical, hydraulic and electrical operations.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Candidates must bring own tools.
• Adherence to Hiab procedures and workplace instructions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, and troubleshoot forklifts and related equipment per manager's instructions.
• Follow safety rules, working practices, and environmental requirements.
• Stay current with internal service bulletins and complete required courses.
• Address customer inquiries to maximize satisfaction per guidelines.
• Maintain records and submit daily reports as required.
• Identify sales opportunities and alert the District Service Manager.
• Coach junior colleagues and trainees as needed.
• Represent Hiab brand positively and follow the Quality System.

Your mission

To perform service, (preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment) on equipment, at assigned Hiab locations in line with Manager’s instructions. Responsible for contributing to productive customer relationships as well as following Best Practice in all administrative and technical activities.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, perform service, troubleshoot (preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment) on the following equipment: Forklifts, Knuckle Boom Cranes, Loaders, Liftgates, Hooklifts, Skiploaders & Hoists in line with Manager’s instructions
• Follow applicable safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements
• Staying up to date with technical developments as shown in internal service bulletins and completing technical courses when instructed by District Service Manager
• Respond to customer’s queries and concerns to maximize customer satisfaction & follow Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines
• Keep adequate records, maintain documentation & submit daily reports in the format specified by the District Service Manager
• Recognize sales opportunities and communicate to District Service Manager
• Coach/tutor junior colleagues and trainees as necessary
• Conduct self at all times in a way that promotes a positive image of the Hiab brand and follow rules of the Quality System

What we are looking for

• Ability to obtain and maintain a 1-year DOT Medical Card is required for this position
• Valid Driver’s License is required
• No more than one moving violation in the last year, or two violations within a two year time frame. All violations will be reviewed
• High School diploma or equivalent is required
• 3+ years of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical operations
• Appropriate diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Own tools required
• Know, understand and comply with Hiab USA, Inc. Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions
