Vermeer Midwest in Charleston, IL is seeking a Service Technician – Heavy Equipment to diagnose, repair, and maintain a range of heavy machinery. This full-time, day-shift role involves hands-on work on directional drills, trenchers, excavators, and more, with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

You should have a high school diploma or GED, 2–5 years of heavy equipment repair experience or a formal tech program, and familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-5 years experience repairing heavy equipment OR completion of a formal technical training program preferred.
• Agricultural experience.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Self-motivated, safety-conscious and time management.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with diagnostic tools.
• CDL Class B or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy-duty equipment such as directional drills, trenchers, brush chippers, excavators, aerial lifts, and more.
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using computerized tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs using hand and power tools.
• Clean, lubricate, test, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
• Complete service tickets and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Communicate repair status with customers and collaborate with fellow technicians as needed.
• Fill in as a Field Service Tech on an as needed basis.
