Job summary

Vermeer Midwest in Charleston, IL is seeking a Service Technician to repair and maintain heavy equipment. This full-time, day-shift role offers $28-$31 per hour and opportunities to work on directional drills, trenchers, excavators and more.

You will diagnose electrical and hydraulic systems, perform preventative maintenance, complete service tickets, and communicate with customers. A high school diploma or GED and hands-on equipment experience are required; CDL Class B preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-5 years of experience repairing heavy equipment or completion of a formal technical training program.
• Agricultural experience.
• Hands-on experience with electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Self-motivated, safety-conscious, and time management skills.
• Computer literacy and familiarity with diagnostic tools.
• CDL Class B or higher preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair heavy equipment such as directional drills, trenchers, brush chippers, excavators, aerial lifts, and more.
• Diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical issues using computerized tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs using hand and power tools.
• Clean, lubricate, test, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
• Complete service tickets and documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
• Communicate repair status with customers and collaborate with fellow technicians as needed.
• Fill in as a Field Service Tech on an as needed basis.
