Job summary

Schuler Gruppe is seeking a Field Service Technician to support customers by troubleshooting and repairing Schuler equipment on-site and during startup of new presses. You will read prints, follow schematics, and perform preventative maintenance while building strong customer relationships across the region.

Travel is 100% across the US, Canada, and Mexico. You will train on Schuler standards and service manuals and may advise on upgrades based on field experience.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred.
  • 2–5 years of related experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Repair or assemble Schuler products and equipment and various assemblies of parts of various types and sizes; perform mechanical, assembly, hydraulic and pneumatic functions.
  • Maintain familiarity with general machine assembly, including fluid technology, via training at SIC or other Schuler operations.
  • Assemble via drawings, specifications, BOMs and written/verbal instructions.
  • Assist affiliates in determining required repair or spare parts at customers.
  • Perform and document PM inspections and help develop protocols as required.
  • Submit field reports in a timely manner to the Field Operations Manager.
  • Report unsafe conditions on Schuler presses; cooperate with colleagues to solve tasks.
  • May perform basic electrical work within normal scope of repairs; advise customers on upgrades.
  • Support quotes development for technical service and parts; produce service reports.

Brief Description

To assist customers with on-site troubleshooting andrepairof existing Schuler equipment or the assembly andstartup of new Schuler presses, as well as customertraining. Also, establish a solid relationship withcustomers and provide a point of contact for technicalsupport within the company. Applies mechanical andhydraulic knowledge to test, troubleshoot and repairsystems and equipment. Read prints, drawings and schematicsand preforms basic calculations. Supports service sales byidentifying and presenting various products, parts, andservices as defined by group objectives. Maintains anddevelops strong customer relationships to ensure positivecustomer service satisfaction measurements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair or assemble Schuler products and equipment andvarious assemblies of parts of various types and sizes.Technicians will be required to perform mechanical,assembly, hydraulic and pneumatic assembly and testfunctions.
  • Maintain familiarity with general machine assembly,including fluid technology, via training at SIC or atother Schuler operations.
  • To be able to assemble via drawings, specifications,bill of materials and through written and verbalinstruction.
  • Develop knowledge of Schuler Standards and SchulerService Manual formats.
  • Assist Schuler affiliates in determining requiredrepair or spare parts at customers.
  • Perform and document Press Preventative MaintenanceInspections and help develop PM protocols asrequired.
  • Submit field reports and/or documents as required bythe Field Operations Manager in a timely manner.
  • Report any perceived unsafe operating condition onSchuler Presses in operation.
  • Act responsibly and strive to cooperate with othersto solve common tasks in the field.
  • May perform basic electrical work within the normalscope of repairs.
  • Advise customers and representatives of upgradeopportunities within the area in addition to practicaladvice gained from field experience.
  • Recommends service and preventative maintenanceprograms for customers of the Schuler group.
  • Recommends and supports quotes development fortechnical service and parts within SIC policies andpractices.
  • Produce comprehensive and accurate service reports ofactivities and repairs to customer’s equipment.
  • Be available for service support on a 24-hour basisincluding holidays and weekends.
  • Provide receipts and details of costs to allow foraccurate invoicing of our customers.
  • Insure that in all aspects of an assignment that thecorporate commitment to quality, cost control, safety andcustomer service is maintained.
  • Must maintain a valid passport and driver’s licenseincluding a satisfactory driving record.
  • Participate in training for specific Schuler Pressesand equipment and OSHA Federal and State SafetyRequirements.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulicrequired
  • (Heavy) Machine building experience required.
  • Preventative maintenance and machine troubleshootexperience.
  • Able to read blueprints, drawings, andschematics.
  • Able to facilitate discussions and give presentationswith highly technical content. Presents clearly andinformatively.

Education and Professional Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.Associates degree preferred.
  • At least 2-5 year of related experiencerequired.
