ABB is seeking a QCS Senior Resident Service Technician to support our Quality Control Systems (QCS) at a customer site in Brewton, Alabama. This is a hands-on, technically challenging role for an experienced professional who enjoys problem-solving, independent work, and close partnership with plant operations teams.
What you’ll be doing:
As a Senior Resident Technician, you will be the primary on-site support for ABB’s Quality Control System, responsible for:
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on ABB hardware and software
- Troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and computer/HMI system issues
- Maintaining sensors, frames, and overall system performance
- Responding to customer questions and resolving service issues in real time
- Providing 24/7 on-call support as part of a team rotation
- Documenting all maintenance and service activities accurately
- Supporting upgrades, new installations, and system enhancements
- Collaborating with other ABB teams and third-party vendors
- Working safely and in compliance with all HSE policies
What we’re looking for:
- Associate degree plus 10 years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation, or process control experience OR
- High school diploma/GED plus 12 years of related experience
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with knowledge of electrical safety
- Ability to read and troubleshoot using electrical drawings
- Experience diagnosing systems up to 240 VAC / 870 VDC
- Comfort working with basic hand tools
- Familiarity with the paper-making process and process control (preferred)
- Exposure to DCS programming/troubleshooting is a plus
- Willingness to travel up to 15% for training and site support
