Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily store operations across various departments.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach for all team members.
  • Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales, ensuring customer needs are met efficiently.
  • Maintain store appearance, focusing on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and adherence to company standards.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
  • Handle staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
  • Promote succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs.
  • Manage disciplinary actions and make recommendations regarding employment status.
  • Oversee P&L, sales goals, and shrinkage control.
  • Model exceptional customer service.
  • Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
  • Mentor and coach team members to meet and exceed sales and service goals.
  • Ensure team training is thorough and complete.
  • Spend most of the time within the store engaging with customers and team members.
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience.
  • At least one year of management experience.
  • Experience in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, and customer service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Financial and statistical analysis skills.
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling techniques.
  • Commitment to working safely at all times.
  • Mentoring skills across organizational levels.
  • Completion of all required certifications.
