Job Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily store operations across departments.
- Serve as a mentor and coach for team members.
- Implement strategies to enhance customer service, increase store sales, and meet customer needs efficiently.
- Maintain store appearance, focusing on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
- Handle staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
- Promote succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs.
- Document and apply disciplinary actions, and make recommendations regarding terminations.
- Manage P&L, achieve sales targets, and maintain department shrinkage.
- Model exceptional customer service.
- Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team interactions.
- Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
- Ensure team training in all job aspects and completion of required training.
- Spend most of the time within the store engaging with customers and team members.
- Promote a safe work environment.
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of related retail experience.
- At least one year of management experience.
- Experience in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, or customer service.
- Ability to communicate clearly and provide precise directions.
- Conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to analyze financial and statistical data for decision-making.
- Ability to teach suggestive selling.
- Commitment to practicing safe work habits.
- Mentoring skills across different organizational levels.
- Completion of all required certifications.
