Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan, direct, and supervise team members in daily store operations across departments.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach for team members.
  • Implement strategies to enhance customer service, increase store sales, and meet customer needs efficiently.
  • Maintain store appearance, focusing on prime shopping hours, product presentation, and company standards.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
  • Handle staffing, selection, and hiring to meet staffing needs.
  • Promote succession planning by providing career paths and identifying development needs.
  • Document and apply disciplinary actions, and make recommendations regarding terminations.
  • Manage P&L, achieve sales targets, and maintain department shrinkage.
  • Model exceptional customer service.
  • Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team interactions.
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals.
  • Ensure team training in all job aspects and completion of required training.
  • Spend most of the time within the store engaging with customers and team members.
  • Promote a safe work environment.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience.
  • At least one year of management experience.
  • Experience in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, or customer service.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and provide precise directions.
  • Conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to analyze financial and statistical data for decision-making.
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling.
  • Commitment to practicing safe work habits.
  • Mentoring skills across different organizational levels.
  • Completion of all required certifications.
