Job summary

N C Power System, serving central and western Washington, central and eastern Montana, northwestern Wyoming, and Alaska, seeks an experienced Service Supervisor for its Central Washington generator service department.

You will lead daily operations, plan job scheduling, and coordinate with sales, warranty, and parts teams while coaching staff and managing budgets. Travel occasionally is required, with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of progressive management experience in a service setting.
• Familiarity with DBS and Cognos is desirable.
• Experience with Detroit Diesel, MTU, Volvo diesel engines, and generators expected.
• Cat Dealership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar Generator products, service, and technical skills preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other business software.
• Strong communication skills.

• Schedule technicians according to knowledge, repair capabilities, and experience.
• Coordinate with sales, product support, warranty, technical communication, and parts groups to meet customer expectations.
• Prepare and manage all open work orders.
• Control expenses (hours/parts) related to work orders.
• Maintain frequent communication with customers and technicians about repair status.
• Compile and track operational data.
• Recruit and interview new technicians.
• Coach and counsel employees on work-related issues.
• Investigate near-misses, accidents, or injuries and prepare reports.
• Manage department budgets, expenses, and performance reviews.

N C Power System carries the complete line of Caterpillar® engine and power systems products covering a vast territory that includes central and western Washington, central and eastern Montana, northwestern Wyoming, northwestern North Dakota and the state of Alaska. We are the Pacific Northwest’s Caterpillar Dealer in delivering prime and standby electric power, marine, oil and gas, and industrial/OEM installations.

We are looking for an experienced Service Supervisor to assist our Central Washington state Commercial Generator Service Department in achieving our mission of helping our customers succeed by providing premier solutions, delivered safely by engaged employees through teamwork and excellence.

Duties Include

• Managing daily operations of the power generation service group
• Providing support to a team of highly trained diesel technicians
• Planning and scheduling jobs
• Scheduling technicians according to knowledge, repair capabilities, and experience
• Working closely with sales, product support, warranty, technical communication, and parts groups to meet customer expectations
• Preparing and managing all open work orders
• Managing all expenses (hours/parts, etc.) related to work orders
• Maintaining heavy phone contact with customers and technicians on repair jobs, status, or issues
• Compiling and tracking operational data
• Recruiting and interviewing new technicians
• Coaching and counseling employees on work-related issues
• Investigating near-misses, accidents, or injuries and preparing appropriate reports
• Managing department budgets, expenses, and performance reviews for department employees

Position Requirements Include

• 2-4 years of progressive management experience in a service setting
• Familiarity with service work order databases such as DBS and financial programs such as Cognos is highly desired
• Experience with Detroit Diesel, MTU, Volvo diesel engines, and generators expected
• Previous experience at a Cat Dealership preferred
• Knowledge of Caterpillar Generator products, service, and technical skills preferred
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other business software
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to meet changing priorities and deadlines
• Valid state driver’s license
• Willingness to travel occasionally
• Ability to represent N C Power System at customer or company functions
