Job summary

Guzzler Manufacturing in Illinois seeks a skilled mechanic to service and repair vacuum trucks and other heavy equipment. You will troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, perform welding and fabrication, and follow technical instructions from blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities include operating cranes and forklifts, entering job data into the system, ordering parts, and upholding OSHA safety policies. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of mechanical assembly experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, hydraulic schematics, diagrams and work instructions.
• Strong ability in electrical, hydraulic and mechanical applications.
• Willingness to work overtime when requested.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Service and/or repair vacuum trucks and other types of heavy equipment
• Troubleshoot and evaluate various mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
• Perform some welding and fabrication as required (mig, stick, plasma, torch cutting)
• Read and understand technical instructions (blueprints, hydraulic schematics, diagrams and work instructions
• Operate overhead crane, hoist, forklift, and miscellaneous air and electric hand tools and measuring instruments as required to perform repairs and maintenance
• Complete shop maintenance during down time
• Enter jobs into computer system in alignment with company processes
• Communicate updates on equipment to Supervisor
• Order parts
• Work in alignment with all company and OSHA safety policies

Pay Range: $34-$37 per hour.

Requirements

• Ability to assemble components per drawings and/or verbal or written instructions.
• Analyze, troubleshoot and diagnose all systems related to a complete vacuum system.
• Strong ability to perform electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical applications, maintain a clean and safe workplace, must work in a manner deemed safe for self and others.
• Willingness to work overtime when requested.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
