Job summary

CarMax in Sterling, VA is seeking a Service Operator to be the friendly, knowledgeable contact for customers in person and over the phone. You will support service processes before, during, and after repairs to keep operations running smoothly.

You’ll handle service calls, schedule appointments, assist Service Consultants, and ensure accurate message routing while upholding CarMax EH&S guidelines and a high standard of customer service.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and active listening.
• Proficient data entry and basic spreadsheet use.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, holidays.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and professionally to service calls with a customer-first mindset.
• Assist Service Consultants and Customer Advisors with interactions.
• Schedule service appointments and route inquiries accurately.
• Deliver timely written messages for follow-up to the right team.
• Coordinate repairs and contact customers when parts arrive.
• Audit sublet invoices, loaner logs, and dealer tags per CarMax guidelines.
• Follow EH&S requirements and maintain a clean work area.
