Job summary

Amazon is seeking an SDE on the BigMesh team in Sunnyvale, CA to build centralized traffic management and networking solutions for internal services. You will own the full software development lifecycle for Service Mesh features, write high-quality code in Golang, Rust, or Java, and collaborate with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to deliver scalable solutions.

This role emphasizes production readiness, on-call responsibilities, and mentoring junior engineers as the team

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Own the full software development lifecycle for Service Mesh features, from design through implementation, testing, and production readiness.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code in Golang, Rust, or Java that meets Amazon's engineering standards.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and senior engineers to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions for traffic management and connectivity.
• Design and build networking features (load balancing, routing, throttling, authentication) used by thousands of Amazon services.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, architecture discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Identify and drive process improvements that increase team efficiency and system reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotation to resolve production issues and proactively mitigate operational risks.
