Job summary

Amazon is hiring a Software Development Engineer for the BigMesh team in Traffic Engineering. You will own the full lifecycle of Service Mesh features, writing code in Golang, Rust, or Java and collaborating with product managers and senior engineers to deliver scalable traffic-management solutions.

Join a team responsible for building centralized networking features and improving availability, performance, and developer productivity across Amazon services.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling).
• Experience programming with at least one software language.
• 3+ years of full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own the full software development lifecycle for Service Mesh features from design to production readiness.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code in Golang, Rust, or Java that meets standards.
• Collaborate with PMs, designers, and senior engineers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Design and build networking features (load balancing, routing, throttling, authentication) used by thousands of services.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Identify and drive process improvements to increase team efficiency and reliability.
• Participate in on-call rotation to resolve production issues.
