Job summary

Truck Country® / Stoops Freightliner-Western Star in Dayton, OH seeks a Service Manager to run the service department, supervising diesel truck repairs and maintenance and leading shop supervisors to deliver quality workmanship.

  • Supervisory experience in Truck Service is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service and professional demeanor.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, vendors, and employees.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Performance Metrics — Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs including revenue, profitability, operational efficiency, uptime, and throughput standards for the shop.
  • Customer Relationships — Build and grow a strong customer base through proactive communication and consistent follow‑through.
  • Customer Support — Respond to customer concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring issues are resolved to strengthen confidence.
  • Workforce Planning — Plan and prepare work schedules, assign employees to duties, and adjust staffing to meet operational demands.
  • Policy Communication — Communicate policies, procedures, and department goals clearly for alignment and accountability.
  • Employee Development — Partner with Training to build skills and readiness for evolving service needs.
  • Safety Compliance — Ensure full safety compliance and maintain a safe, productive work environment.
  • Professional Representation — Demonstrate professionalism in interactions with employees and customers.
  • Service Growth — Develop and implement a service growth plan and budget for long-term success.

Job description

The Service Manager will be responsible for the complete operation of the Service Department. The Service Manager must work with the Fixed Operations Manager to strive to grow the department and make necessary decisions to maintain a profitable Service Department. The Service Manager will direct, and coordinate activities concerned with repair and maintenance of diesel engine vehicles, and operation and maintenance of truck service facilities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Education, Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Previous supervisory experience in Truck Service a must.
  • Experience with Proceed strongly encouraged
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication.
  • Excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and employees.
  • Valid Driver’s License
