Job summary

Bottom Line Equipment in Texas is seeking a Service Department Manager to oversee all BLE service activities across yard, shop and customer jobsites.

You will supervise Field Technicians, Shop Mechanics and Helpers, ensure quality of equipment, manage damages, organize yards, and maintain safety compliance per DOT and OSHA guidelines. Travel about 20% of the time.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • 5 years of experience in heavy equipment management
  • Proficient in Wynne System and Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of Sales and Customer Relations concepts, practices and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Train, direct and evaluate subordinates to manage all Service Department functions
  • Oversee prioritization of work orders for Field Technicians, Shop Mechanics and Helpers
  • Lead engagement with customers, BLE personnel, vendors and manufacturers regarding repairs, maintenance and service training
  • Monitor utilization of heavy equipment to meet budgeted targets
  • Manage equipment ready line with one available unit per type
  • Maintain an equipment down status of 10% or less
  • Organize store yard by unit/attachment status, type and size
  • Manage service personnel time and productivity
  • Oversee rental contracts to ensure high customer service
  • Manage damages to equipment and attachments at assigned location
  • Assist with internal BLE equipment audits
  • Lead department, store and safety meetings
  • Adhere to company policies and safety regulations
  • Perform other duties as requested

Job description

Oversee all BLE service activities of the yard, shop and customer jobsites. Responsible for quality of equipment and recovery of rental damages. In addition, ensures service operations are properly documented, and the shop environment remains well organized.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Train, direct and evaluate subordinates in order to properly manage all functions of the Service Department at assigned location.
  • Oversee the prioritization of work orders for all Field Technicians, Shop Mechanics and Shop Helpers.
  • Lead Service Department engagement with customers, BLE personnel, outside vendors and manufacturers regarding repairs, maintenance and service training of heavy equipment and attachments.
  • Monitor utilization of heavy equipment and attachments to ensure each unit is achieving its budgeted targets
  • for revenue and profitability.
  • Manage equipment \"ready line\" to include one available unit for each type of BLE equipment marketed.
  • Maintain an equipment \"down status\" of 10% or less at all times.
  • Structure and organize store yard efficiently by unit/ attachment status', type and size.
  • Responsible for time management of all service personnel.
  • Manage existing rental equipment contracts to ensure a high level of customer service, while promoting a positive team-oriented environment.
  • Manage damages to all heavy equipment and attachments located at assigned location to better serve the customer and BLE.
  • Assist with all internal BLE equipment audits.
  • Lead department, store and safety meetings.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, rules and regulations in written or verbal form.
  • Comply with government safety and regulation requirements.
  • Comply with BLE safety and regulation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • 5 years of experience in heavy equipment management required
  • Proficient in Wynne System and Microsoft Office including: Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of frequently used Sales and Customer Relations Concepts, Practices and Procedures
TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Strong organizational skills with a strong ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to adhere to and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong understanding of DOT and OSHA guidelines
  • Capable of safely operating basic hand tools, hydraulic lifts, dollies, and pallet jacks, excavators, compactors, boom trucks, aerial lifts and various other equipment types
