Job summary

KanEquip invites high school students to join a Service Internship I program aimed at exploring a career as a diesel technician. Participants will learn the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to diagnose and repair agricultural and construction equipment during the 2026-2027 school year or Summer 2027.

You will contribute by developing skills in diagnosing hydraulic/electrical systems, engines, and fuel systems, using online parts and service information systems, and supporting service

Qualifications

  • High school student exploring a path to become a diesel technician.
  • Desire to attend Agriculture Power/Technology, Diesel & Heavy Equipment programs.
  • Interest in diagnosing and repairing agricultural and construction equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and have reliable transportation.
  • Good communication with parts, sales and service teams.
  • Willingness to travel to KanEquip locations when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Understand KanEquip mission, vision, and service goals.
  • Develop skills to diagnose/repair hydraulic and electrical systems, engines, and fuel systems.
  • Work with online parts and service information systems.
  • Complete reports/forms for service operations accurately and timely.
  • Assist other diesel technicians and departments to deliver value and service.
  • Engage in training, mentoring, and feedback surveys.

Job Summary:
  • The purpose of the Service Internship I is for high school students who have an interest in exploring a path to becoming a diesel technician. Student will learn about the knowledge, skills and abilities required in becoming a service and diesel technician. The Service Internship I will be during the 2026-2027 school year or during the Summer 2027.
The ideal candidate has…
  • Interest in attending an Agriculture Power/Technology, Diesel & Heavy Equipment or Diesel Technology program.
  • A passion to learn methods, tools, materials, and techniques to diagnose and repair agricultural and construction equipment.
  • A goal to understand diesel engines, hydraulics, electronics and electrical systems and precision ag systems.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with parts, sales and service personnel and customers.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds as required without assistance.
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle status.

  • Understanding the mission, vision, and values of KanEquip and the goals and expectations of the service department.
  • Developing skills to diagnose and repair hydraulic and electrical systems, engines, and fuel systems.
  • Working with online parts and service information systems
  • Developing skills to complete reports and forms for service operations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assisting other diesel technicians and other departments to bring value and customer service to our stakeholders.
  • Engaging in training, mentoring, and feedback surveys
