Job summary

Metropolitan Council's Metro Transit division in Minnesota is seeking a Service Garage Supervisor for the Bus Maintenance department. You will supervise preventive and corrective maintenance during a designated shift and coordinate work between shifts and departments.

Typical hours are second or third shift with either Saturday or Sunday off; residence in Minnesota or Wisconsin is required. The role offers opportunities for training in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, transmissions, engines,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 8 years of experience, includes 1 year supervisory experience.
• Two-year vocational program in diesel mechanics with 6 years of experience, includes 1 year supervisory experience.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, HVAC and electrical systems.
• Experience supervising and training mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical work for an assigned shift to ensure vehicle availability.
• Plan preventive and corrective maintenance and track vehicle history.
• Assign and inspect the work of mechanical personnel.
• Enforce safety and EEO policies.
• Communicate strategies and goals with the manager.
