Job summary

Metropolitan Council's Metro Transit division in Minnesota is seeking a Service Garage Supervisor for the Bus Maintenance department. You will supervise preventive and corrective maintenance during a designated shift and coordinate work between shifts and departments.

Typical hours are second or third shift with either Saturday or Sunday off; residence in Minnesota or Wisconsin is required. The role offers opportunities for training in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, transmissions, engines,

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with 8 years of experience, includes 1 year supervisory experience.
Two-year vocational program in diesel mechanics with 6 years of experience, includes 1 year supervisory experience.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
Knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, HVAC and electrical systems.
Experience supervising and training mechanics.

Responsibilities

Coordinate mechanical work for an assigned shift to ensure vehicle availability.
Plan preventive and corrective maintenance and track vehicle history.
Assign and inspect the work of mechanical personnel.
Enforce safety and EEO policies.
Communicate strategies and goals with the manager.
