Job summary

Milwaukee County Transit System in Milwaukee, WI seeks an experienced Maintenance - Garage Supervisor to oversee day-to-day maintenance and garage operations, ensuring buses are safe, reliable, and available for scheduled service.

You will lead maintenance staff, monitor safety standards, coordinate with Operations and Dispatch, manage inspections, preventives, and reporting, and drive continuous improvement while enforcing policies and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a mechanic or similar maintenance role.
• Valid Class D Wisconsin Driver’s License (non-probationary).
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with P Endorsement and no air brake restriction or ability to obtain CDL permit.
• Associate's Degree in Automotive Maintenance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• Two years of supervisory or foreman experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily maintenance operations to ensure buses are safe, reliable, and available for scheduled service.
• Manages maintenance activities to meet fleet availability and pull-out requirements.
• Coaches, mentors, and provides performance feedback to maintenance personnel.
• Administers labor agreements and enforces workplace policies and disciplinary procedures.
• Investigates accidents, road calls, and equipment failures and ensures safety compliance.
