Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics or related field required.
• Minimum 2 years' hands-on experience with metal identification and sorting.
• Familiarity with OES, spark testing, chemical spot testing, or X-ray analysis.
• At least 2 years operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and programming spectrometers.
• Understanding of steel types and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, maintenance, installations, and field analyses on analytical instruments.

• Prepare tools, parts, and equipment to ensure efficiency.
• Schedule and coordinate travel for timely service delivery.
• Train and qualify other technicians on instrumentation.

• Communicate daily with the main office about status and delays.
• Provide technical support to customers and technicians via phone, remote, or on-site.
• Advise customers on maintenance actions to ensure equipment reliability.
• Report feedback, sales opportunities, and upgrade needs to management.
• Suggest process improvements to enhance service efficiency and documentation.
• Follow all safety policies and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

Our client in Bethel Park is seeking a Service Engineer.

Duties:

• Perform repairs, periodic maintenance, installations, and field analyses on analytical instruments in a safe and timely manner.


• Conduct instrument calibrations, check-ins, installations, and Positive Material Identification (PMI) testing.


• Prepare all necessary tools, parts, and equipment before each job to ensure efficiency.


• Schedule and coordinate travel arrangements for timely and cost-effective service delivery.


• Train and qualify other technicians on instrumentation once qualified.


• Maintain detailed and accurate service documentation, including obtaining customer signatures where required.


• Communicate daily with the main office regarding job status, issues, and delays.


• Provide technical support to customers and other technicians via phone, remote access, or on-site visits.


• Advise customers on maintenance actions to ensure continued equipment reliability.


• Report customer feedback, potential sales opportunities, and equipment upgrade needs to management.


• Recommend process improvements to enhance service efficiency and documentation accuracy.


• Follow all company safety policies and comply with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.

Job Requirements

• Associate degree (two-year) in Electronics or related technical field.


• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in metal identification and sorting using one or more of the following methods:




• Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)


• Spark testing


• Chemical spot testing


• X-ray analysis




• At least 2 years of experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and programming optical-emission spectrometers.


• Working knowledge of steel types, their characteristics, and differentiation methods.


• Familiarity with applicable calibration procedures, analytical methods, and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.


• Basic understanding of electrical systems and sample preparation for spectrometric analysis.


• Strong attention to detail, organization, and customer communication skills.


• Ability to travel as required for service assignments.
