Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking a Service Advisor to sell and schedule service work for commercial trucks and equipment in the dealership service department. You will gather customer concerns, inspect vehicles, run on-the-spot diagnostics, and reference service history to suggest needed work.

Responsibilities include detailing repairs, obtaining signatures, communicating timelines, and ensuring proper payment methods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year service experience is preferred or equivalent education.
• Manufacturer training is required.
• Valid CDL license is required.
• Driving record must be insurable by the company’s carrier.

Responsibilities

• Gather customer complaint details and expectations.
• Perform vehicle walk around inspection and verify vehicle information.
• Connect to J-Pro and perform on the spot vehicle diagnostics; print report; refer to service history and recommend additional needed service.
• Advise customers on vehicle care and maintenance per manufacturer specifications.
• Write up vehicle problems clearly on a service input card and obtain customer signature.
• Establish promised time based on shop workflow and communicate with the foreman.
• Determine customer’s payment method and obtain credit approval if necessary.
• Create repair orders in the business system and secure signatures in the repair order jacket.
• Monitor progress of repairs throughout the day and inform customers of changes or costs and obtain necessary approvals.

Responsibilities:

• Gather customer complaint details and expectations.
• Perform vehicle walk around inspection, verify vehicle information.
• Connect to J-Pro and perform on the spot vehicle diagnostics. Print report. Refer to service history (IE:SIR), recommend additional needed service.
• Advise customers on the care of their vehicles and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications.
• Write up customer’s vehicle problems accurately and clearly on a service input card, verify customer information. Obtain customer’s signature.
• Establish “promised time” based on shop workflow, communicate with foreman.
• Establish customer’s method of payment. Obtain credit approval, if necessary.
• Create repair order in the business system, create repair order file and secure service input card with customer signatures in standardized repair order jacket.
• Check on progress of repair throughout the day. Contact customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time, explains cost and time requirements in detail, and gets proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed.

Basic Qualifications:
