We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Service Advisor to join our team. As the Service Advisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of your customer base. This is a leadership role that requires strong strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to drive results.

Responsibilities
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the department and strive to meet them.
  • Hire, train, motivate, counsel and monitor the performance of all service department staff.
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the service department.
  • Maintain reporting systems required by general management and the factory.
  • Attend managers meetings.
  • Monitor and control the performance of the department using appropriate reports, tracking systems and surveys.
  • Strive for harmony and teamwork within the department and with all other departments.
  • Develop and implement a marketing plan which promotes new and repeat business.
  • Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operations (e.g., hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know).
  • Understand and ensure compliance with manufacturer warranty and policy procedures.
  • Account for all documents; ensure none are missing and all are processed correctly.
  • Hold weekly department meetings.
  • Direct and schedule the activities of all department employees.
  • Facilitate and/or conduct technical training and send employees to appropriate training schools as needed.
  • Monitor technicians' daily productivity reports and payroll records.
  • Monitor and follow up on parts orders with the parts manager to ensure availability.
  • Initials all repair orders before submitting them to the warranty department, monitoring for sales and hours relative to expectations.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business.
  • Inform repair technicians of time allowances on each repair order.
  • Maintain high-quality service repairs and minimize comebacks; conduct periodic spot checks for thoroughness and quality.
  • Stay informed about new equipment and tools and recommend purchases.
  • Ensure work areas and the customer waiting area are kept clean.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with vocational and technical schools to enhance recruitment.
  • Serve as liaison with factory representatives.
  • Ensure proper care, storage and inventory of special tools.
  • Ensure customers' service files are up-to-date and readily available for reference.
  • Ensure customers are greeted promptly and given fair estimates on costs and time required for repairs and maintenance.
  • Prepare pricing guides and maintenance menus for frequent labor operations.
  • Handle customer complaints immediately and according to dealership guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain 24-hour follow-up with all customers to confirm satisfaction with the service experience.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and professional appearance.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably as a Service Advisor or similar position.
  • Strong knowledge of cash handling, alignments, transmissions, oil changes, tire service, shocks/struts, mechanical knowledge, brake repair, and auto estimating.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with service customers at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional appearance and a strong desire to excel.
