JOB SUMMARY: The Account Manager is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong customer relationships throughout the Northern California market. This role focuses on driving revenue growth by acquiring new customers, retaining existing ones, and generating revenue through the sale of maintenance agreements, projects, and repair work. The Account Manager plays a critical role in driving branch growth by delivering exceptional customer service and customized solutions to meet client needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND EXPECTED RESULTS (The activities that are essential to the business success and the expected results.)
- Sales & Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to grow the customer base.
- Develop and present tailored proposals for maintenance agreements, project work, and repair services.
- Proactively manage the sales pipeline, from lead generation to closing deals.
- Conduct site visits, assess customer needs, and provide solutions that align with their operational goals.
- Attend industry related networking and business development events.
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for repairs, projects, and preventive maintenance agreements.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager and technicians to gather input on job requirements and costs.
- Ensure all estimates include labor, materials, and any additional costs to provide competitive and profitable pricing.
- Present proposals to clients, explaining the scope of work and addressing any questions.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and retention.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring a positive experience.
- Develop strategies to enhance customer loyalty and increase repeat business.
- Account Management:
- Regularly review and renew maintenance agreements, identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling additional services.
- Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely service delivery and adherence to contract terms.
- Collaborate with the service team to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.
- Work closely with the management and other team members to align sales efforts with operational capabilities.
- Provide feedback to the team on customer needs and market trends to improve service offerings.
- Contribute to branch sales goals by meeting or exceeding individual targets.
- Market Research & Strategy:
- Stay informed about market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs in the Northern California area.
- Leverage market insights to develop and execute effective sales strategies.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS: (Measurable activities and the corresponding results.)
1.Revenue generated from new maintenance agreements sold, as outlined, discussed and established on a quarterly basis.
2.Maintenance renewals, as outlined, discussed and established on a quarterly basis.
3.Revenue generated from projects and repair work, as outlined, discussed and established on a quarterly basis.
4.Customer retention and satisfaction rates, as outlined, discussed and established on a quarterly basis.
5.Achievement of individual sales goals, as outlined, discussed and established on a quarterly basis.
6.Growth of the customer base in the Northern California market, as outlined, discussed and established on a quarterly basis.
QUALIFICATIONS: (A list of the expected prior education and or experience.)
·Proven experience in sales or account management, preferably in the HVAC, plumbing, or service industry.
·Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
·Results-driven mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
·Ability to understand customer needs and provide tailored solutions.
·Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple accounts and priorities effectively.
·Knowledge of maintenance agreements, HVAC systems, or related services is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical Demands
- Standing & Walking – HVAC salespeople often spend time on their feet while visiting job sites, meeting clients, and inspecting HVAC systems.
- Climbing & Bending – Depending on the role, they may need to climb stairs, enter basements, or inspect rooftop units.
- Use of Technology – Frequent use of tablets, laptops, and mobile devices for proposals, scheduling, and customer communication.
Working Conditions
- Indoor & Outdoor Environments – Work involves both office settings (for paperwork and sales meetings) and field work: spending more than 51% of the time away from our primary business location - selling, visiting customers, attending customer meetings and inspections).
- Exposure to Weather Conditions – When visiting construction sites or inspecting equipment, they may experience extreme heat, cold, or humidity.
- Noisy Environments – Job sites and mechanical rooms can be loud due to running HVAC systems and construction activity.
- Variable Work Hours – May need to work evenings and weekends to accommodate customer schedules, especially during peak seasons (summer and winter).
- Safety Considerations – While salespeople do not perform installations, they must be cautious around active job sites, machinery, and potential hazards.
