Job summary

Mendocino Railway in West Sacramento, CA is seeking a Server for seasonal, part-time work aboard trains and at stations. You will provide friendly, table-side service and help create a memorable guest experience during excursions and events.

The role requires 1+ year in a customer-facing server position, ability to operate POS and timecard apps, and availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. 21+ to serve alcohol; training provided for certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older to serve alcohol.
• 1+ years of experience in a customer-facing server role in food & beverage, bartending, or hospitality.
• Tech savvy with ability to operate POS and timecard apps.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required prior to hiring.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Basic food and beverage knowledge (beer, wine, cocktails, and menu familiarity).
• Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to obtain or maintain California food handler and alcohol service certifications (training provided).
• Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Willingness to work onboard moving trains and at stations/events.

Salary Range: $17.00 To $18.00 Hourly

Mendocino Railway is the owner/operator of freight and passenger railroads including the California Western Railroad / Skunk Train and the River Fox Train. The River Fox operates between West Sacramento and Woodland along the Sacramento River, its office is located at 18095 CR 117, W. Sac 95691, just off I-5 at Exit 22.

We are a unique entertainment venue looking for outgoing individuals with an aptitude for fun and hard work to join the crew as aServer. This is a part-time position working throughout the week including nights, weekends and holidays.

Servers provide exceptional table-side service and ensure guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience aboard our trains.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

• Greet and serve guests in a friendly, professional manner throughout excursions and events.
• Stay guest-focused and deliver an excellent dining experience.

• Efficiently and accurately process transactions using POS system.

• Perform other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 21 years or older to serve alcohol.
• 1+ years of experience in a customer-facing server role preferablyfood and beverage, bartending, or hospitality.
• Tech savvy with ability to easily operate POS and timecard apps.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required prior to hiring.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Basic food and beverage knowledge (beer, wine, cocktails, and menu familiarity).
• Must be reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to obtain or maintain valid California food handler and alcohol service certifications including RBS, and Food Safety (training provided if necessary).
• Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays (including Halloween and Christmas).
• Willingness to work both onboard a moving train and at a station or event locations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand for extended periods and walk on uneven surfaces (train platforms, gravel, etc.).
• Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs safely (e.g., beverage cases, trays).
• Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks as part of food and beverage service.
• Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments and around moving rail equipment (with provided safety training).
• Must be able to perform duties safely while on a moving train.

• Employment is part-time, seasonal and includes paid sick leave accrual.
