Job summary

Mendocino Railway in West Sacramento, CA is seeking a Server for seasonal, part-time work aboard trains and at stations. You will provide friendly, table-side service and help create a memorable guest experience during excursions and events.

The role requires 1+ year in a customer-facing server position, ability to operate POS and timecard apps, and availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays. 21+ to serve alcohol; training provided for certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older to serve alcohol.
• 1+ years of experience in a customer-facing server role in food & beverage, bartending, or hospitality.
• Tech savvy with ability to operate POS and timecard apps.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required prior to hiring.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Basic food and beverage knowledge (beer, wine, cocktails, and menu familiarity).
• Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to obtain or maintain California food handler and alcohol service certifications (training provided).
• Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Willingness to work onboard moving trains and at stations/events.

Responsibilities

• Greet and serve guests in a friendly, professional manner during excursions and events.
• Stay guest-focused and deliver an excellent dining experience.
• Run food and beverages from service areas to guests promptly and accurately.
• Process transactions using POS system.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace and assist with side work.
• Assist with setup and teardown of dining areas before/after each event or train ride.
• Assist with preparing train cars and stations for themed and special events.
• Communicate effectively with guests, coworkers, and management to ensure seamless service.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of train cars and station areas.
• Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
