Job summary

The Informatics Research Institute at UL Lafayette is seeking a Server Administrator to oversee enterprise applications and server environments on site in Baton Rouge, LA. You will provide leadership in deployment, security, disaster recovery, and performance management.

Responsibilities include architecture of deployment processes, integrations with state services, and documenting procedures. Requires a strong background in Windows Server, IIS, and automation with Python or PowerShell.

Qualifications

• Five (5) plus years advanced level experience in a Windows Server environment including performance tuning, database migrations, automation of complex application deployments or health checks using Python or advanced PowerShell.
• Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server OS and IIS; proficiency in PowerShell for service automation and log parsing.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related.

• Provide advanced expertise for the administration, configuration, and support of applications.
• Architect application deployment processes and strategies that align with State standards for application monitoring, lifecycle management, failover disaster recovery, and security.
• Provide expertise with integration with State Enterprise Architecture Services, specific APIs, identity management, document repositories, and related services.
• Design application-specific failover process and strategies to ensure services align with defined Service Level Agreements.
• Develop integration strategies and validation processes such that audit capabilities are incorporated and easily utilized.
• Coordinate enhancements, modifications or upgrades with users, developers, business analysts, infrastructure teams, governance groups, and change management teams with a goal of aligning testing processes.
• Produce documentation related to provisioning, maintenance, and support of the system.
• Produce roll-back procedures and information related to validation and components.
• Provide training to new users and take the lead when troubleshooting system problems.
• Ensure process control activities are aligned with system performance.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Title: Server Administrator

Responsibilities:

The Server Administrator at the Informatics Research Institute at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette is responsible for the administration, support, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications and server environments. This position provides technical leadership in application deployment, system integration, security, disaster recovery planning, and performance management. The role works closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient system operations while supporting upgrades, enhancements, troubleshooting, documentation, and user training activities.

The Server Administrator reports to the Chief Technology Officer of the Informatics Research Institute. This is an on-site position in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or related.
• Relevant industry certifications such as ITIL Foundation, MS Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, etc.
• Experience working on a development team.
• Experience with client engagements on design, delivery, deployment and on-going maintenance.
• Previous experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Experience managing Azure Cloud applications and services (IaaS and SaaS).
