Job summary

Schaffer's Mill in Truckee, CA, is seeking a part-time Server to deliver prompt, professional food and beverage service. You will welcome guests, describe daily specials, and take orders with care while maintaining a clean and organized workstation.

Responsibilities include upselling, ensuring guest satisfaction, and following POS procedures. The role requires basic English, a high school diploma or GED, and reliability in a fast-paced hospitality setting with alcohol-service requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Provides immediate attention to all guests upon seating.
• Describes specials of the day to guests; answers questions regarding menu items; offers suggestions when appropriate.
• Takes food and beverage orders from guests and delivers food promptly after preparation.
• Follows up with guests to ensure satisfaction and replenishes items as needed.
• Participates in pre-shift meetings and taste tests.
• Maintains an organized workstation and side work duties.
• Accounts for checks and cash transactions; operates the POS system.
• Follows established systems for taking, placing, and delivering orders.
• Adheres to standards for greeting, cocktail service, food delivery, and general service techniques.
• Performs tray service for all food and beverage service; maintains safe work practices.
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance; performs other duties as required.

Pay Rate

$16.90 - $21.00 per hour

General Purpose

Serves guests food and beverage items in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides immediate attention to all guests upon seating
• Describes specials of the day to guests; answers questions regarding any menu item and offers suggestions when appropriate
• Takes food and beverage orders from guests and delivers food promptly after preparation

• Accountable for checks and cash transactions; utilizes Point of Sale System
• Follows established systems for taking, placing, and delivering orders
• Follows established standards for greeting, cocktail service, food delivery, and general service techniques
• Practices tray service for all food and beverage service
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance
• Maintains regular and reliable attendance
• Performs other duties as required

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands

Frequently stands and walks; uses hands; reaches with arms and hands; stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches; talks, or hears. Occasionally sits; climbs, or balances. Frequently lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

Environment/Noise

Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.

Certificates/Licenses

Food Safety and Sanitation Training and Alcohol Awareness Training.

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences

• Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., associates may be required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers; equipment manuals may be in English)
• Meets state age requirements for handling alcoholic beverages
• Knowledge of POS system
