Responsibilities

  • Attend pre-event meetings to learn function specifics, hotel expectations and guest needs.
  • Greet guests and respond to requests in a courteous manner.
  • Time service of courses to match dining pace of guests.
  • Adhere to laws and requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
  • Replenish beverages and ensure guest satisfaction during events.
  • Reset banquet room after events per supervisor's instructions.
  • Maintain sanitary practices throughout service.

Description

Summary:

A banquet server is a person or a group of people who perform serving duties at dinners and events.

Essential Functions:

  • Attend toll call meeting before events kick off to learn function particulars, including hotel and guest expectations
  • Greet and welcome guests and respond to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Timing the service of courses to correspond with the dining pace of the guests.
  • Abide by all corporate act, laws and requirements pertaining to serving alcohol beverages
  • Replenish beverages when necessary and check with guests to make sure they are satisfied.
  • After the banquet, reset banquet room in accordance with the supervisor’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of sanitary practices.
  • Other duties may be assigned

Work Environment:
  • Ability to lift 50-70 pounds and stay comfortable on their feet for the entire shift
  • Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 30 pounds through a crowded room throughout the shift
  • Hotels operate 24/7, therefore schedules may at times fluctuate based on the needs of the business, so being flexible is key to the position
