Job Summary
As a Server at Hyatt Vacation Club (HVC), you will be responsible for creating memorable moments for Owners, members, and guests. You will take orders from and serve food and beverages, maintain high service standards, and ensure guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
In addition to serving duties, the role includes:
- Setting tables according to event type and service standards.
- Answering menu questions and communicating special requests to the kitchen.
- Checking in with guests to ensure satisfaction with each food course and beverage.
- Maintaining cleanliness of work areas and practicing clean‑as‑you‑go procedures.
- Insuring the presentation of all china, glass, and silver before use.
- Following appropriate alcohol service procedures.
- Handling cash transactions accurately and following cash‑handling policies.
- Performing closing duties such as cleaning, restocking, locking equipment, and completing daily checklists.
- Resolving guest concerns using brand‑specific processes (e.g., LEARN, PLEASED, Guest Response, LEAP).
- Providing assistance to guests with disabilities in accordance with guidelines.
- Assisting coworkers to ensure prompt service coverage.
- Adhering to safety and security policies, reporting incidents, and completing required training.
- Maintaining personal appearance and uniform in compliance with company policies.
- Ensuring privacy and security of guests and proprietary information.
- Working both indoors and outdoors, and performing physical tasks such as lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Communicating with the kitchen on wait times, recooking orders, and product availability.
Job Requirements
Physical Ability
Perform physical tasks such as moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Reach overhead and below the knees, bend, twist, pull, and stoop. Stand, sit, or walk for extended periods or an entire shift.
Work Schedules
Maintain availability to work fluctuations based on business needs, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Education, Certifications, or Licenses
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred. Customer Service experience preferred but not required. No supervisory experience required.

Steps of Service
- Present physical and accurate checks; process payment per cash and credit policies.
- Check in with guests to ensure satisfaction for each course and beverage.
- Answer menu questions and coordinate with kitchen when clarification is needed.
Cash/Bank Handling
- Record transactions in the POS system during order.
- Count bank at shift end, complete cashier reports, resolve discrepancies, deposit receipts, and secure bank.
- Transport bank to/from workstation following security procedures.
- Obtain assigned bank, keep it accurate, and secure at all times.
- Process all payment methods in accordance with accounting procedures.
Policies and Procedures
- Protect privacy and security of guests and coworkers; maintain confidentiality.
- Ensure nametags and personal appearance are clean and compliant.

Work Environment
Work may involve exposure to outdoor elements including cold, heat, sun, and rain. Use of computerized POS system, computer, telephone, and other office equipment is required. Physical activity includes standing, walking, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, and grasping.
