SERVE Virtual Veteran Access & Community Outreach VISTA in Houston, TX, supports strengthening sustainable Veteran intake and community outreach systems. You will help document workflows, develop forms and checklists, and craft messaging to improve referrals and follow-up while coordinating partner outreach and feedback.

The role emphasizes capacity building and working with staff to enhance information-sharing practices and avoid duplicating services. Training and relocation may be provided.

Responsibilities

Job description

SERVE works to connect Veterans seeking assistance with information, resources, and community-based support. This VISTA assignment will focus on strengthening the sustainable systems SERVE uses to organize Veteran intake, track referrals and follow-up, coordinate community outreach, and maintain consistent information-sharing practices.

Member Duties :

The SERVE Veteran Access & Community Outreach VISTA will assist staff with strengthening sustainable Veteran intake and community outreach systems. Activities include reviewing and documenting intake workflows; developing standardized forms, checklists, procedures, and tracking tools; researching intake and outreach best practices; creating community outreach planning resources and approved messaging; developing partner and event follow-up systems; testing tools with staff; and compiling intake and outreach sustainability guides. The VISTA may support selected outreach activities to test materials, document community feedback, and identify opportunities for system improvement. This assignment is focused on organizational capacity building and supports, rather than replaces, staff responsible for direct service delivery and ongoing case management.
