Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to join the Sentinel SEIT team, contributing to system-of-systems interoperability and joint system integration with customer counterparts across the enterprise.

This role supports the Sentinel (GBSD) program and may be located in Huntsville, AL or Roy, UT. It requires active Secret clearance, DoD experience, and strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12 years of experience; or Master's with 10 years; or PhD with 8 years.
  • US Citizenship with an active US Government Secret Clearance at time of application.
  • Ability to obtain SAP clearance.
  • 10+ years in Agile and cross-functional Scrum teams.
  • 10+ years Experience with Product Owner and Product Manager responsibilities.
  • 4+ years experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) or complex aerospace/defense systems.
  • 2+ years experience on large-scale development across phases (design to production).
  • Experience with SE milestone events (PDR, CDR).
  • Customer-focused with leadership and strong communication; DoD contract experience.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer to work with our Sentinel Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) Business Unit and be a contributing member of the System Integration and Sustainment (SIS) Enterprise Systems Integration team. This multi-tiered and multi-disciplined team assesses external interfaces and mission scenario operational threads across the Weapon System (WS). The team serves as system integrators to facilitate systems of systems interoperability and joint systems integration in partnership with customer counterparts and other key stakeholders across the enterprise.

Location

This position may be located either in Huntsville, Alabama or Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Integration activities in support of systems-of-systems integration which may include integration test planning, problem identification and reporting, integration event execution, coordination with multiple stakeholders to facilitate effective and efficient communication.
  • Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication, etc.
  • Be proficient in the development of key system engineering artifacts such as requirement specifications and interface definition documents.
  • Ensure appropriate coordination between SEIT and other integration teams.
  • Participate in technical planning, verification and validation development, cost and risk considerations, and requirements analyses for integrated systems.
  • Identify risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design, systems, or analysis factors.
  • Collaborate and communicate with multi-functional teams and all collaborators.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to teams during project execution.
  • Work independently with minimum supervision, positive demeanor and highest ethics.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) with 12 years of experience; or Master's degree with 10 years of experience; or PhD with 8 years of experience.
  • US Citizenship with an active US Government Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Ability to obtain Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance.
  • 10+ years Experience with Agile and working in a cross-functional Scrum teams.
  • 10+ years Experience with Product Owner and Product Manager core responsibilities.
  • 4+ years experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems.
  • 2+ years experience on large scale / complex system development experience across multiple phases of a development program: preliminary design, detailed design, integration and test, verification and sell off, transition to production.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering program milestone events (e.g., PDR, CDR).
  • Customer-focused mindset with proven leadership skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working with external customers to meet program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Experience supporting DoD contracts and/or large supplier management portfolio experience in other industries.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding and broad application of complex engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.) for the development of complex systems-of-systems.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Experience executing and boarding Risks, Issues & Opportunities Teamcenter/CPLM experience.
  • Continuous Process Improvement experience.
  • Experience with Agile.
  • Experience in creating, updating, and maintaining Model-Based Systems Engineering products.
  • Experience collaborating with multiple functional groups, subcontracts, and government customer representatives.
  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.

The positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
