Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the Sentinel program in Roy, Utah. You will engage in use case development, requirements definition and allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification and validation, and traceability across complex defense systems.

The role emphasizes MBSE practices using Cameo/Rhapsody and collaboration with cross-functional teams to mature architecture content and ensure system performance documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM required.
  • 5+ years of experience for Principal level; 8+ years for Sr. Principal with relevant defense systems experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance with timely investigation.
  • Experience in MBSE/model-based engineering and requirements management.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop systems engineering artifacts.
  • Develop and mature architecture content for large programs.
  • Define and allocate requirements and ensure traceability in models.
  • Develop system architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture.

What you will get to do

The Sentinel program has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer to join the team supporting activities including use case development, requirements definition/allocation, functional decomposition, interface definition, verification & validation, and requirements traceability.

  • Collaborate with program IPT counterparts to develop supporting systems engineering and design artifacts.
  • Work with both technical teams and stakeholders to develop and mature architecture content of large programs design.
  • Help develop and incorporate the appropriate requirements for the system and ensure that they are properly represented in the model.
  • Develop systems architecture using Cameo Enterprise Architecture (behavioral, structural, analytical).
  • Contribute to system requirements development, management, and analysis.
  • Develop unifying model techniques, procedures, and processes (for model development, tool integration, and team integration).
Basic Qualifications
Principal Systems Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 5 years of experience, 3 years of experience with master’s degree, 0 years of experience with PhD.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • 1+ years of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tool.
  • 1+ year experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems.
  • 1+ year experience in team environments with leadership responsibilities.
  • 1+ year experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation.
Sr. Principal Systems Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 8 years of experience, 6 years of experience with master’s degree, 4 years of experience with PhD.
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • 2+ years of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations.
  • 2+ years of experience with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW.
  • 2+ years of experience with one or more of the following: Command & Control (C2), physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (e.g. Sentinel, Minute Man III, B‑2, B‑21 delivery systems).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tool.
  • Self-driven, able to tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight and make recommendations for solutions/process improvement to leadership.
  • 1+ year experience in team environments with leadership responsibilities.
  • 1+ year experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Schedule

This position’s standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salaries

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
