Job summary

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS is seeking a CORRECTIONAL SENTENCE TECHNICIAN-F/C for the South Florida Reception Center. This role focuses on accurately assessing sentencing rules, recording accurate release dates, and ensuring proper housing and program placements within the correctional system.

The position requires reporting to the assigned FDC office and is not a telework role. Strong attention to detail and communication are essential to support rehabilitation and successful

Qualifications

• Must possess a High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Transcripts may be required if selected for this position.
• Evidence of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application and during interviews.

Responsibilities

• Look at commitment documents to understand sentencing rules, update sentence information, and ensure release dates are correct; verify computer calculations and manually calculate jail time credit.
• Collaborate with Public Defenders, State Attorneys, Sheriffs, and Court Clerks to fix mistakes in commitment documents and resolve sentence-related issues.
• Search the inmate information system to correct errors in inmate identification and number assignments; ensure correct sentence details are entered in OBIS.
• Review new commitments after intake to decide if a new inmate number is needed or if the original can be used; update sentence details and recalculate release dates; inform Central Office of changes.
