Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Sensor Simulation Expert to design and validate high-fidelity virtual sensor models within the NVIDIA Omniverse ecosystem. You will enable autonomous systems, digital twins, and virtual validation by ensuring sensor outputs reflect real-world conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Robotics, Electrical/Computer Engineering, CS).
• 5+ years in sensor development, simulation, robotics, autonomy or perception.
• Strong programming in Python and C++.
• Hands-on with NVIDIA Omniverse, Isaac Sim, OpenUSD or similar.
• Experience validating sensor models against real data.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity simulation models for multiple sensors (cameras, LiDAR, radar, GNSS, IMU).
• Define fidelity requirements and performance metrics for simulations.
• Implement realistic sensor characteristics including noise, distortion, and calibration effects.
• Create Omniverse extensions and reusable sensor frameworks.
• Collaborate with perception/autonomy teams to support algorithm testing.
