Job summary

Wayve in California is seeking a Sensing Systems Engineer to own the sensing subsystem across vehicle platforms. This role sits within the Robotics team and interfaces with AV Engineering, Hardware, Vehicle Software, Validation and Product.

You will define sensing requirements, build validation frameworks, and drive system-level decisions to reduce ambiguity in sensing performance and enable data-driven vehicle readiness.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in autonomous systems, robotics, automotive, or a closely related field.
• Strong systems engineering capability, including translating high-level product needs into measurable sensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own sensing system performance and define what good looks like for the sensing stack.
• Develop and maintain clear sensing system requirements across multiple teams.
• Support hardware and vehicle software teams to ensure correct sensor integration.
• Design and implement validation frameworks to evaluate sensing performance.
• Lead cross-functional coordination for sensing decisions during bring-up phases.
• Partner with ML teams to assess how sensing quality affects model performance.
