Job summary

Wayve in Sunnyvale is seeking a Sensing Systems Engineer to own the sensing stack across our vehicle platforms. You will collaborate with the Robotics team and work closely with Hardware, Vehicle Software, Validation and Product to define requirements and drive system-level decisions.

This role focuses on reducing ambiguity in sensing performance, building robust validation frameworks, and enabling data-driven decisions about vehicle readiness and sensor integration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in autonomous systems or robotics with real-world deployment.
• Translate product needs into testable sensing requirements.
• Hands-on with at least one sensor (camera, LiDAR, radar).
• Knowledge of multi-sensor systems including perception and localization.
• Experience evaluating sensing performance in real-world conditions.
• Ability to define metrics, benchmarks, and acceptance criteria.
• Strong collaboration with Hardware, Vehicle Software, ML/Perception teams.

Responsibilities

• Own sensing system performance and define success criteria.
• Develop sensing requirements and align across teams.
• Support integration of sensors into vehicle platform.
• Design frameworks to evaluate sensing performance.
• Establish benchmarks for vehicle bring-up.
• Diagnose and resolve sensor issues before on-road deployment.
• Coordinate across teams to reduce ambiguity during bring-up.
• Assess impact of sensing quality on model performance.
