Job summary

Manatee County Government seeks a Development Review Specialist to assess zoning and land development proposals at Lakewood Ranch, FL. You will review re-zonings, site plans, and building permits for regulatory compliance and coordinate with other agencies to ensure conditions are met.

The role requires detailed plan review, preparing board graphics, and public-facing reports. A valid driver’s license and relevant degree or experience are preferred, with opportunities to advance in the county

Qualifications

• Knowledge of modern principles and practices of planning, zoning, subdivision regulation or engineering.
• Experience with GIS and MS Office is highly desired.
• Ability to exercise mature judgement and make independent determinations within policy.

Responsibilities

• Reviews proposed re-zonings, special permits, site plans, plats and building permits for regulatory requirements.
• Coordinates review of subdivision plats and traffic studies; prepares graphics for Board Presentations.
• Conducts detailed review of construction plans and site plans for compliance with standards.
• Prepares written reports of findings and assists the public and development community.
• Responds to the general public when required.
• Visits project sites to ensure compliance with conditions.
• May track bonds and agreements.
• Monitors projects for compliance with approval conditions.
