Job summary

The Town of Palm Beach seeks a Planning & Zoning Specialist to enforce zoning codes and align development with the Comprehensive Plan. You will review permits and minor development applications, ensure drawings meet ARCOM/LPC approvals, and act as the main public liaison at the planning counter.

Ideal candidates hold a degree in urban planning or related fields with relevant experience, plus a Florida driver's license. Strong communication and GIS skills are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, construction management, building construction, architecture, or related field required, plus one year of related experience preferred.
• Experience may be accepted in lieu of degree with minimum Associate's degree and five years' experience.
• Knowledge of zoning, site plans, land development and redevelopment processes.
• Florida driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Review building permits, business licenses, and minor development applications for zoning compliance.
• Verify that plans conform to ARCOM/LPC approvals and site plans.
• Serve as primary public liaison at the planning counter, assisting inquiries in person, email, and by phone.
• Guide the public, developers, and contractors through planning and permitting processes.
• Assist code enforcement officers in investigating potential zoning violations and preparing documentation.
