Job summary

Sarasota County is seeking a Right-of-Way Permitting Specialist to join the Land Development team. You will review ROW permits, conduct field inspections, and assist with development plan reviews to ensure compliance and protective infrastructure.

The role requires 4+ years of inspection experience or relevant college training, a Florida driver’s license, and potentially FE certification. It offers full-time hours and strong county benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent AND 4+ years inspecting experience, or college-level training may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• Valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred; FE Exam is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review ROW Use permit applications to ensure compliance with the Unified Development Code and regulations.
• Conduct field inspections on private, public, and County-owned properties to verify compliance.
• Assist with subdivision, site, and development plan reviews as part of permitting.
• Collaborate with planners, inspectors, engineers, and staff to move projects forward.
• Provide backup support for Land Development Inspectors by assisting with field inspections and related activities.
