Job summary

The City of Annapolis seeks a senior Zoning Administrator to lead the modernization of the zoning code, analyze amendments, and provide expert guidance to elected officials and the public. The role reports to the Director of Planning and Zoning and coordinates with developers, attorneys, and boards on zoning matters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or related field.
• Five years of experience in local government planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• AICP certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization of zoning code and write amendments.
• Serve as liaison to boards, staff, elected officials, and the public.
• Coordinate with attorneys, developers, and applicants on zoning matters.
• Review and prepare reports for Planning Commission, HPC, and Board of Appeals.
• Supervise Zoning Enforcement Officer and coordinate with inspectors.
• Assist in site plan review and pre-qualify applications for zoning compliance.
• Provide guidance on complex zoning issues.
• Answer inquiries to build understanding of zoning codes and procedures.
