Job summary

Truist is seeking a Lead z/OS Systems Programmer to serve as the technical leader for the z/OS team. This hands‑on role will direct complex engineering work, lead upgrades and incident resolution, establish standards, and ensure the mainframe platform's availability, security, and resilience.

The position will mentor engineers at all levels and represent z/OS Engineering in cross‑team and leadership discussions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering.
Advanced knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies including cloud, network, database, storage, platform, computing, and middleware.

Responsibilities

Direct complex engineering work and lead critical upgrades and incident resolution.
Establish standards and ensure availability, security, resilience, and long-term health of the mainframe platform.
Mentor engineers at all levels and represent z/OS Engineering in cross-team discussions.
Designs, builds, manages, and implements enterprise infrastructure technology platforms and systems across cloud, network, database, storage, platform, computing, or middleware domains.
Develops and applies automation, monitoring, and optimization techniques to ensure high availability and performance of infrastructure.
Manages large infrastructure projects and programs aligned with organizational strategy and regulatory requirements.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams and external partners to integrate new technologies and continuously improve infrastructure standards and processes.
Troubleshoots and resolves complex technical issues impacting infrastructure performance and reliability.
Ensures compliance with technology strategies, standards, and governance to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory adherence.
Reviews infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures to support operational consistency and knowledge sharing.
Provides strong technical guidance, training, and direction to infrastructure teams and lower-level technical professionals.
Demonstrates innovative influence with stakeholders in supporting business objectives and technical strategic objectives.
