Job summary

Truist Financial Corporation is seeking a Lead z/OS Systems Programmer to serve as the technical leader for the z/OS team. This hands-on role will direct complex engineering work, lead critical upgrades and incident resolution, establish standards, and ensure the availability, security, resilience, and long-term health of the mainframe platform.

The position will mentor engineers at all levels and represent z/OS Engineering in cross-team and leadership discussions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of professional infrastructure engineering experience.
• Advanced knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies including cloud, network, database, storage, platform, computing, and middleware.

Responsibilities

• Lead the z/OS team as the technical leader for infrastructure projects and upgrades.
• Design, build, manage, and implement enterprise infrastructure platforms spanning cloud, network, databases, storage and middleware.
• Develop automation, monitoring, and optimization to ensure high availability and performance.
• Manage large infrastructure projects and programs aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to integrate new technologies and improve standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex infra issues affecting performance and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with tech strategies, standards, and governance to mitigate risks.
• Review designs, configurations, and procedures to support consistency and knowledge sharing.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to infrastructure teams.
• Influence stakeholders to support business and technical objectives.
