Job summary

Ensono is seeking a Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer to support installation, testing, and implementation of new z/OS operating systems and related system software. The role includes incident resolution, tuning, and expert guidance across multi-disciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in mainframe environments, deep z/OS knowledge (SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, JCL), and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Remote-friendly role with opportunities for on-site collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of mainframe experience in a large enterprise.
• Deep knowledge of z/OS installation and maintenance including SMP/E.
• Advanced knowledge of TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL.
• Advanced knowledge of USS and USS file system security.
• Experience installing software within USS.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and handle incidents under pressure.
• Knowledge of z/OS services, Parallel Sysplex, and catalog management.

Responsibilities

• Provide thought leadership for automation strategy and future direction.
• Serve as SME and main contact for key projects and initiatives.
• Participate in on-call schedule and incident resolution.
• Configure, customize, and set up z/OS parameters.
• Coordinate with vendors and lead complex projects.
