Job summary

Lutheran Social Service MN is seeking a Senior Youth Worker (Non-Driver) to welcome and support youth ages 16-24 experiencing homelessness. You will assist with basic needs and help create daily plans while covering shelter hours during weekends and weekdays.

The role requires crisis response, positive youth development knowledge, and the ability to build rapport with youth. A DHS background check is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with homeless, at-risk youth or children/youth removed from home.
• Knowledge of positive youth development, harm reduction and trauma-informed care.
• Training and competency in safety policies (bloodborne pathogens, CPR/FA, CPI, mandated reporting).
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must pass a DHS background check.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and support youth, assist with basic needs and daily planning.
• Provide shelter coverage during open hours and assist with departures.
• Develop relationships to identify needs and next steps toward stability.
• Respond to crises and emergent needs of youth seeking shelter.
