Job summary

Old Republic Commercial Risk in Pennsylvania seeks an in-house counsel to lead the litigation of workers' compensation claims for insured and self-insured employers. You will prepare pleadings and conduct depositions as part of our legal team.

The role requires PA Bar admission, a Juris Doctor, and 2–3 years of workers' compensation experience. Strong writing, research, and negotiation skills are essential, along with the ability to travel across PA.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Licensed with the PA Bar Association.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of workers compensation litigation experience representing insured and self-insured employers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel to various locations throughout the PA area.
• Excellent research and negotiation abilities.
• Detail oriented with good judgment and prioritization skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and internal billing software.

Responsibilities

• Litigate insurance company and third-party administrator workers' compensation claims.
• Prepare legal correspondence, memorandums, briefs and pleadings.
• Conduct depositions of claimants, insureds and expert witnesses.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and advise on developments in workers' compensation law.
• Assist with settlements and negotiations of litigated claims.
• Ensure compliance with Defense Counsel Guidelines.
