Job summary

SCI Summit Consulting, LLC seeks a Senior Underwriter for a Virginia field role focused on workers’ compensation underwriting. You will evaluate new and renewal business, develop risk models, and collaborate with actuaries, agents, and clients to align with guidelines and risk appetite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Risk Management and Insurance or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 13+ years of underwriting experience.
• AU/CPCU/CIC/ARM or similar designations preferred.
• Solid knowledge of state and federal insurance regulations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong negotiation ability.

Responsibilities

• Leads evaluation and underwriting of new and renewal business according to guidelines and risk appetite.
• Develops and implements advanced risk assessment models for coverage, pricing, and terms.
• Fosters partnerships with actuaries, agents, brokers, and clients to gather necessary information and guide decisions.
• Procures and analyzes motor vehicle reports, loss history reports, and external inspections to support underwriting.
• Maintains documentation of underwriting decisions and regulatory compliance.
• Evaluates complex renewals and modifications for enhancements and risk mitigation.
• Communicates underwriting strategies to internal teams, agents, and brokers.
