McAngus Goudelock & Courie in Alexandria, VA, is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Workers' Compensation team. The ideal candidate has 5-7 years of workers' compensation defense experience and a portable book of business, with licenses in VA and DC (Maryland preferred).

You will handle discovery, depositions, negotiations, and trial preparation, while collaborating with paralegals and support staff in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of workers' compensation defense experience.
• Portable book of business preferred.
• Licensed to practice law in Virginia and DC; Maryland also preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess new files to establish action plans, budgets, and recommendations.
• Identify pleading requirements and delegate tasks to paralegals as needed.
• Prepare discovery responses and manage document production.
• Attend depositions, hearings, and other discovery events, providing thorough reports
• Negotiate settlements, secure authority, and prepare for trial as necessary
• Maintain regular communication with paralegals and legal assistants
