Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 10+ years of diverse workers’ compensation claims handling experience.
• At least four years of California claims management experience.
• Experience supervising workers’ compensation claims in Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon preferred.
• Expertise in coverage analysis, reserving, claims investigation, and litigation management.
• Experience managing claims for large or national accounts.
• Proven leadership with coaching, development, and management of experienced claims professionals.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, judgment, and strategic claims management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day activities and performance of a team of workers’ compensation claims professionals.
• Guide claim strategies emphasizing proactive, creative, and timely outcomes.
• Coach and develop team members through performance management and training.
• Oversee complex workers’ compensation claims for investigation, coverage, reserving, and resolution strategies.
• Direct the use of attorneys, surveillance providers, nurse case managers, and other resources.
• Monitor litigation and vendor performance to ensure effectiveness and alignment with objectives.
• Partner with insureds to build support for claim strategies and maintain relationships.
• Promote return-to-work strategies and collaboration with insureds for light-duty opportunities.
